In celebrating the Migrant Workers Day 2025, the Department of Science and Technology Region VI (DOST VI) was recognized for its steadfast collaboration with OWWA in supporting OFWs through science, technology, and innovation.

The commemoration of Migrant Workers Day was held, together with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office VI (OWWA) RWO VI, together with key stakeholders, to give tribute to the courage, sacrifices, and enduring contributions of Filipino migrant workers. A key focus of the celebration was the crucial role of partnerships in advancing the well-being of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families.
DOST VI’s contribution is particularly embodied in one of its flagship programs, the Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH) Program, which empowers OFWs and their families to build sustainable, innovation-driven enterprises.
As a partner agency, DOST VI actively participates in the Program Orientation and Business Appreciation (POBA) Course, a key component of OWWA’s Enterprise Development and Loan Program (EDLP), by promoting the iFWD PH Program. This program aims to provide Technical Assistance and Innovation Funding to OFWs seeking to establish science, technology, and innovation-based enterprises, enabling them to transform ideas into sustainable livelihood opportunities.
